چکیده

INTRODUCTION Neonatal MR is a particularly challenging application requiring fast imaging to reduce motion artifacts especially when anaesthetics are not used. However, on conventional MR system fast imaging sequences produce high levels of acoustic noise and can yield high SAR. Increased SNR and gradient strength can be achieved while obeying acoustic noise and SAR restrictions using smaller scale gradient coils and transmit-receive arrays. The aim of this project was to design and construct a 32 channel Transmit-Receive (TR) array and integrated local insert gradient set using a printed circuit board manufacturing technique for use with a neonatal incubator at 1.5T. The gradient and RF insert has been assembled and bench tested and the TR RF array coil initially tested at 1.5T through acquisition of MR FID signals from each of the 8 coils from one side of the array.

Modeling of RF Waves in Free Space Optical Communication System Under Gamma-Gamma Turbulent Channel Effect

In this paper, an enhancement design of communication system using optical radio frequency (RF) waves in free space optical communication (FSO) system is presented. To our knowledge, it is the first time that the effect of Gamma-Gamma turbulent channel model on the performance of the proposed system is analyzed and simulated. To obtain an optical communication system with good performance and h...

Improving high-resolution Q-Ball imaging with a head insert gradient: Bootstrap and SNR analysis

Introduction. The ability to depict small structures of the central nervous system using diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is notably limited by the spatial resolution and sensitivity of the diffusion-encoded images. However, voxels smaller than ~6 mm (1.8mm isotropic) are difficult to achieve in conventional clinical scanners given the limited signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)...

A comparison of a T1 weighted 3D gradient-echo sequence with three different parallel imaging reduction factors, breath hold and free breathing, using a 32 channel coil at 1.5 T. A preliminary study.

PURPOSE To investigate whether increasing temporal resolution with higher parallel imaging (PI) reduction factors (RF) in both breath-hold and free breathing approaches, using a non-contrast T1-weighted 3D gradient echo (GRE) sequence and a 32-channel phased array coil, permits diagnostic image quality, with potential application in patients unable to cooperate with breath-hold requirements. ...

A z-gradient array for simultaneous multi-slice excitation with a single-band RF pulse.

PURPOSE Multi-slice radiofrequency (RF) pulses have higher specific absorption rates, more peak RF power, and longer pulse durations than single-slice RF pulses. Gradient field design techniques using a z-gradient array are investigated for exciting multiple slices with a single-band RF pulse. THEORY AND METHODS Two different field design methods are formulated to solve for the required curre...
